Pedrosa Withdraws from U.S. Grand Prix

July 20th, 2008 by R.J.

Dani Pedrosa will not ride in Today’s U.S. Grand Prix. The Spaniard decided to withdraw from the event following testing on Saturday morning due to immense pain from injuries he sustained during last weeks crash at the Sachsenring circuit in Germany.

The Repsol Honda rider bravely traveled to the U.S. to be competitive in the Mazda Raceway circuit, but managed to only complete 21 laps at a reduced pace in practice. He ended the day, after two sessions of practices, running 15th. His injuries were further aggrivated by the counter-clockwise circuit that places additional stress on his injured left wrist and and fractured left index finger.

Because of this, Pedrosa decided to not participate in Sunday’s race and will spend his free time recuperating in preparation for the Czech Grand Prix on August 15th - 17th.

July 18th, 2008 by R.J.

MotoGP arrived in the United States this week with typical California sunny weather welcoming the riders and teams to the Pacific Coast on Thursday.

Injured Honda rider Dani Pedrosa made the journey from Europe despite his hand and ankle injuries sustained last week at Sachsenring which caused him to give up the World Championship points lead. The Repsol rider confirmed he will be practicing in the free practice before the race.

The current AMA U.S. champion Ben Spies will be making another guest appearance this weekend as a rider for Suzuki.

Casey Stoner  Well, that was a very interesting race today at Sachsenring. It was probably my favorite race of the season thus far.

I really liked the way CBS Sportsline covered it. The “extras” they included in the hour-long televised event top the coverage given to MotoGP by Speed by far. Speed needs to take some pointers from CBS and give MotoGP the coverage it deserves instead of catering to ridiculous NASCAR racing. (Example: As I write this I’m nodding in and out of NASCAR’s “Prelude to the Dream” on Speed. I’ve seen this at least 3 other times already…)
